Sandy & Govind’s Sunset Engagement Session in Squamish, B.C.
I was lucky enough to be a part of this beautiful couple’s surprise engagement in October of 2020. So it was very special when they asked me to shoot their engagement session in June of 2021. It was really important to this couple to have a scenic location for their engagement session. We found the perfect location in Squamish that is surrounded by mountains and lakes. With the location and lighting in mind, we scheduled the session to be just before sunset, which made for the most romantic lighting. The tide came in where we wanted to cross the river to the other side, so we loaded our stuff on our backs, took off our shoes and socks, and braved the cold Squamish river to get to the secluded sandy part of the beach. Then I took them to the mountain location which is a secret local spot in the Squamish area, which is just a short hike up, but so worth it for the incredible views.
This engagement session is proof that it’s always worth the extra mile to get those magical shots. I love getting adventurous with my couples and I would love to hear your ideas of how we can create the perfect session for you.
[…] It’s a not-so-secret gem, though. It’s right off the highway. My recommendation? Head there 2-3 hours before the time of sunset. Although it’s only an hour or so from Vancouver, the sun sets much earlier at the Squamish Spit because it’s located behind mountains. Plus, you may need to wander a bit to score some shots away from others. Check out a full Squamish Spit Engagement Gallery here! […]
